It is hard to work with both because once they get in they all make compromises that impact lives. We can look at homelessness, police brutality and education to see that regardless of conservative or liberal labels these systems are failing and none of them have changed that.

I would add that the conservative elected officials dominate our political discourse. I am also not sure if many of the liberal democrats in San Diego how appreciate that they are not too far off from the conservative republicans- especially when it comes to criminal justice issues. This political discourse helps to keep us locked in a horrible status quo for people of color.
