Gloria, We expect that housing will be available for spring 2021. More information will be available in October.
Hannah Bowen
26:11
Krista, dining locations and hours for the fall are available at http://www.eatatsdsu.com/Restaurants-Markets/Hours-Locations. Pools and the ARC will be closed until further notice, but we hope with time to be able to open these again. Our residential community spaces and study areas will remain open for student enjoyment at reduced occupancy. The SDSU Library plans to re-open the "24/7" service area in the Love Library at the beginning of the fall semester.
Hannah Bowen
29:44
Krista, on-campus mailing information can be found at https://housing.sdsu.edu/services_amenities/mail.aspx

Faith, we will disburse financial aid around 8/14, allow that to apply first and check your balance on 8/19 to see what your remaining balance is. You can do this through the Online Student Account.

Juan Lopez (You): Hello, I have a question about scholarships. When do we find out if we get accepted or not?
Kari Hooker
34:55

If we take out loans now and then get scholarships in the next couple months will they carry over for the next year? Or can they be used to pay off the loans?
Calvin Liew
38:10
How is financial aid impacted by the decision to or not to house on-campus?
Evelyne Martinez-Herrera
38:13
i have a question: for this fall semester, how many weeks or months for this semester?
Kari Hooker
38:49
If we need to adjust aid due to a scholarship, they could be used to pay toward your loan. Many times you can get both your loans and the scholarship. You could not carry the funds from the scholarship to the next year.
Carmen
40:06
Can you make payments on an unsubsidized loan before graduation?
Fernanda Bovey
40:19
Do loans cover the tuition fee?
katb
40:43
We paid for Initial payment in the amount of $800 and the non-refundable $60. We are waiting response from CALVETs for the tuition waiver. Is the $800 refundable? We also signed up for the Installment Plan.
Kathryn Prideaux
40:44
If a parent plus loan is activated - are ANY payments due soon?
Kari Hooker
40:49
You can make payments on an unsubsidized loan before graduation.
Scott Campbell
41:24
I've got a question about the new Aztec Scholarships, my daughter was accepted in the Nursing Program as a freshman. She was in the top 20 in her Senior class. When she applied for Fasfa, they went off our 2018 income tax and we were declined. Our 2019 was under par for our family income and we have another daughter that will be a junior that's been on deans list.....................because od Covid 19 neithe myself our my wife is currently working. Please advise with any suggestions?
Calvin Liew
41:51
Two nights ago, students received a message that grants will NOT in any way cover the cost of housing. Is this correct?
Scott Arnold
42:57
Re: Katb — Cal Vet waives CSU tuition but NOT $989 of Campus Fees. If you paid the $400 Intent to Enroll also, then you’ve paid $1200 towards tuition and can expect a refund of 1200 - 989 = 211
Suzanne Goulet
42:59
Loan payments can be made before graduation and it is encouraged to reduce your overall debt load once you graduate. Loan interest payments made are tax deductible.
jacobbeasley
43:35
Is Outlook the email we should check because Im confused as to where my student email is or where to really log in
katb
44:05
Yes we also paid the $400 Intent to enroll. How will the refund be processed?
Xiela
44:18
In July, all students were switched from Outlook to Google mail.
Calvin Liew
44:28
hey Jacob, use your same SDSU outlook info to log onto Gmail. There you will be able to access your student G Suite account
jacobbeasley
45:05
Thank you calvin
Suzanne Goulet
45:09
Grant aid can be applied to both tuition and housing charges
Scott Arnold
45:47
The refund will be issued the same way payment was made (e.g. returned to credit card or checking account used for the payment)
TammyH
46:21
Please confirm that the housing/meal fees do not incur a credit card fee if a credit card is used for payment. thank you!
Suzanne Goulet
46:31
Typically a student receiving grants must also activate at a minimum the student loan(s) to cover a portion if not all of the housing and tuition charges. Even the highest need student must activate at least some loan to cover tuition and housing/meals.
John O.
46:41
When I click on "My Registration" through the SDSU web portal, Under "My Fee Payment Status" it says "Financial Aid." Does this mean that I do not need to pay my tuition before my orientation date?
Kathryn Prideaux
46:42
Is the outlook account the email that ends in .sdsu.edu?
Scott Arnold
46:44
Correct. Housing installments will NOT incur a credit card service fee
Xiela
47:18
Your SDSU ID is your email that ends in @sdsu.edu.
Scott Arnold
47:43
John O. Fee payment status = Financial Aid means the student qualified for fee postponement and does not need to pay prior to orientation
Kathryn Prideaux
47:48
Then can you explain further how to set up the G Suite account? I don’t know the outlook info?
Xiela
48:32
If you are having difficulties with your SDSU email login, please contact SDSU Information Technology to troubleshoot.SDSU Information TechnologyEmail: hub@sdsu.eduPhone: 619-594-3189
Suzanne Goulet
48:51
A financial aid tuition deferment allows a student to defer or postpone the tuition payment so the student can register for classes
Kathryn Prideaux
48:57
OK - so you do use the sdsu.edu email to log into g suite?
Ryan Guzman
48:58
I already qualified for Intent to Enroll fee, When will it reflect on my account? I am being charged $3860 instead of $3460?
Xiela
49:24
You would use your @sdsu.edu to login to Google Suite
John O.
50:52
Since I have my FAFSA loan "Activated," does that mean I don't have to pay any fees or tuition myself. Will the school just take the money for tuition out of my FAFSA loan automatically and then direct deposit me whatever is left over?
Scott Arnold
50:58
Ryan, if you already paid the $400 intent to enroll only $3460 is due. From the Online Student Account: Click “Make a Payment” from the menu. Then select Fall 2020 from the menu. Next, choose Fall 2020 Undergraduate Students. Tuition fees will be listed. You can select the item in the $ amount of 3460 and add that fee to your basket.
Sloan Auban
51:10
I’ve reached out to financial aid and never heard back, how can I appeal my financial aid, or how can it be re-evaluated?
When I filled out my financial aid I checked the box to working on campus and never received any information. What do I do to get a job on campus?
Suzanne Goulet
51:11
Semesters are typically 15 weeks
Breck Richardson
51:49
How can I speak with someone from financial aid?
Ryan Guzman
52:14
thank you
Suzanne Goulet
52:40
Even with loans activated you want to be sure you have no payments due. Please review your online student account: www.sdsu.edu/sas to view your billing and payment due date information
Xiela
52:56
If you wish to speak to someone in financial aid, please send a request to fao@sdsu.edu
Hannah Bowen
52:58
Juan, please contact oha@sdsu.edu and we will resend the email.
Fernanda Bovey
53:09
If I activate my loans, will it cover my tuition fee also? So I will be able to register for classes?
Scott Arnold
53:31
John O. Loans, Grants, etc is disbursed in mid august and these financial aid funds automatically pay university debts like tuition. If the funds were insufficient, you may still have payments due out of pocket. However, if you did get enough aid the excess funds are direct deposited
John Castle
53:56
Will there be RAs in the dorms?
Suzanne Goulet
54:30
Activated Loans can be applied to both tuition and housing. You can check your tuition postponement eligibility in AidLink once your loans are activated
Suzanne Goulet
56:14
If you did not receive a federal work-study award as part of your financial aid award, you can contact Financial Aid at: fao@sdsu.edu and we can determine your eligibility. Work study jobs will be posted for fall mid-August and there are students working remotely.
Hannah Bowen
56:34
Yes, RAs, Residence Hall Coordinators and Faculty-in-Residence will be staffing the residential communities.
Suzanne Goulet
57:08
Please remember when emailing any office on camput it is important to include your name and your SDSU red ID number
Calvin Liew
57:35
Is disbursed grant money, even after direct deposit, not applicable to housing if the student has not activated loans?
Scott Arnold
58:27
All Financial Aid can be applied to housing. Funds will not be direct deposited until after all fess are paid.
Suzanne Goulet
58:33
All aid will be applied to tuition and housing before any refund is issued to the student
John O.
58:48
On the SDSU Portal, my registration date is listed as August 14th, but I was under the impression that I would be registering for classes on my orientation day which is August 7th. Will I not get to sign up for classes until the 14th?
Scott Arnold
59:24
John, once you check in at orientation your “Registration” date will revert back to August 7 at 2:00 PM
Calvin Liew
01:00:08
Thanks Scott and Suzanne, but Suzanne said this earlier "Typically a student receiving grants must also activate at a minimum the student loan(s) to cover a portion if not all of the housing and tuition charges. Even the highest need student must activate at least some loan to cover tuition and housing/meals. "
Diana Welch
01:00:33
Are students allowed to have coffee makers in their dorm room?
Calvin Liew
01:00:37
So grants cannot be applied to housing without activating a loan as well?
Sloan Auban
01:01:03
I’ve reached out to financial aid and never heard back, how can I appeal my financial aid, or how can it be re-evaluated?Second question, When I filled out my financial aid I checked the box to working on campus and never received any information. What do I do to get a job on campus?
Suzanne Goulet
01:01:12
If you are signed up for orientation, registration will take place during your orientation session
John O.
01:01:19
If I am using a FAFSA loan to pay for my tuition, is there any advantage of signing up for an installment plan, or will the tuition be payed in full automatically?
Scott Arnold
01:01:30
Calvin, grants are applied to tuition first, then housing. The message means that grants alone will not be enough to pay both tuition and fees, and the entire Housing license agreement
Jessye
01:02:02
Are students responsible for cleaning their own bathrooms or is there a custodial service that cleans?
Hannah Bowen
01:03:13
Ross, yes facial coverings must be worn while on campus. However facial coverings are not required in the apartments and suites.
Suzanne Goulet
01:03:15
Grant aid will be applied to tuition and housing charges automatically providing the student is registered in classes and no holds exist. A loan does not need to be activated for the grant aid to be applied to the student's bill.
katb
01:03:51
can local students apply for on campus housing?
Scott Arnold
01:04:39
John O. Please refer AidLink and or WebPortal to look up your eligibility to postpone tuition payment. If you have the eligibility to postpone, you do not need to sign up on the installment Plan. The installment plan is there for students without postponement eligibility
Calvin Liew
01:04:43
Thank you, Suzanne.
Kathryn Prideaux
01:05:18
I understand from Facebook that family will be able to continue to help move in over the weekend. I just wanted to confirm that (2 family members at a time of course)
Sloan Auban
01:06:26
I’ve reached out to financial aid and never heard back, how can I appeal my financial aid, or how can it be re-evaluated?
Kathryn Prideaux
01:07:46
I didn’t see an answer to the question about an RA in the dorms?
Suzanne Goulet
01:08:20
If you experienced a change in income, parent and student can submit an appeal for the Financial Aid Office to re-evaluate your student's eligibility using this form: https://sa.sdsu.edu/financial-aid/forms/budget-increase-requests-and-income-appeals#requestreview

Diana Welch
01:08:48
In regards to the Post 9/11 GI Bill, is it automatically put into the system or are there any further steps that need to be done to activate it?
Victoria Bruckner
01:08:51
How can I apply for scholarships without doing a FAFSA application?
Kari Hooker
01:09:26
Students can apply to scholarships through Aztec Scholarships at sdsu.edu/scholarships. You do not need to submit a FAFSA to apply for scholarships, as not all require financial need.
Scott Arnold
01:10:05
Diana, please submit necessary documents to the county VA office and the SDSU Joan and Art Barron Veteran’s Center. They notify us, Student Account Services, after the documents are processed
Fernanda Bovey
01:10:05
If I received subsidized and unsubsidized loans, do I activate both?
Suzanne Goulet
01:10:53
Veterans benefits questions should be directed to the VA Office on Campus: veterans@sdsu.edu
MsLolis
01:11:24
Why is my Financial Aid in hold if CARES Act stopped my automatic Student Loan payments, not me?
Inez Caro
01:11:41
I am trying to cancel my housing agreement, however I am aware there is a 1,000 dollar fee for canceling if I fill out the Contract Release Form. As an EOP student I cannot afford this fee, is there any financial assistance I can receive to eliminate or reduce this fee?
Suzanne Goulet
01:11:41
Loans are optional, you need to determine how much if any of the loan you might need in order to pay your balance.

The Aid History Review Hold does not require any action from the student. The FInancial Aid Office needs to ensure you did not receive financial aid at another school while also attending SDSU

If I did the Aztec Scholarship, will I be awarded scholarships that apply to me without submitting an application? I didn't understand the process. Do I have to apply for every scholarship I want?
John O.
01:17:59
Is there a deadline to activate Parent Plus loans? I have not activated them because the fall semester will be virtual. But if the spring semester is 'in-person' then I would want to activate it for living expenses? Can I wait to activate the parent plus loan until this December or January?
Avaz Ganjeh
01:18:05
my to do list shows I need to submit form and proof of US documentation, do I mail this or bring it in person? Last I heard was to wait because mail in isn't an option and the financial aid office isn't open due to covid
