There are emails about COVID-19 cases on campus being sent by SHS only to essential workers and workers on campus. There needs to be transparency with staff, parents, students, and faculty so everyone can be informed.
If you receive a notice of a positive case, please forward to the Union.

I go to campus once a month. I see people on campus every time I go to campus not wearing a mask or social distancing.
(UPD had a case, was told by supervisor 2nd hand it was a cleaning person in after hrs. Not sure who was notified officially. Those not going to the building all the time were not told)
does anyone know about the covid testing at SDSU lot 17? is this open for staff?
I did see a notice that the County testing was ONLY going to be for those with symptoms right now because the amount of available test are so low

As you know the University is allowing each office/department to decide what employees will return on campus. If the employee feels they can work virtual do they have any recourse?
your right 211 is only now testing for symptoms why we encourage you to call your medical provider to request a test
Is the accrual limit for vacation hours/sick time going to be waived? I don't want to take forced vacation to go nowhere.

Is the Union working on Golden Hand shake for retires
Regarding Golden Handshakes...all options are on the table, but the CSU has not mentioned it yet. It is a bargaining issue that will be discussed during the process of a new contract.
IF the University is not talking to Union about repopulation plans and they are not being transparent about those who get the virus and they left it piece meal for each office and department to make a plan then how can we even began to trust the University is concerned for our safety.

Typically if you have been “exposed” then County of SD contact tracers would advise you to “voluntarily quarantine” for 14 days. If employees advise the campus that they are staying home to quarantine based on CO. Health advice then the union needs to get involved if the employee is in any way treated punitively.

"Golden Handshake" or "Early Exit" is designed to lower base funding obligations for the future and does not reduce immediate university obligations.

Ingrid, the union is not opposing returning to work. In our case it’s the College of Sciences, and possibly Academic Affairs. It is common for administrations to blame the union for anything actual workers don’t like. I suspect that is happening with you at the EM facility.
For those who want to go back then go back.
Faculty going back for research were asked to sign wavier not to sue the University and that is why it was brought up in the meeting last week.
