Is an i20 issued, necessary for incoming international student for MS in Fall 21 to apply for scholarship?
All international students are eligible for scholarships. You do not need an i20 to apply and receive scholarships.
I understand that students have a higher chance of being considered for more scholarships if they apply early. Do all students who submit prior to the April 15 priority deadline have the same chance (i.e. March 25 vs April 14)?
As long as you apply by April 15, you will be considered for the most amount of scholarships possible. You have the same chance applying in March and April.
Are these scholarships available to graduate students as well as those getting BA/BS?
Graduate students are eligible to apply for scholarships.
Is there a word limit or minimum for these essays?
Can you please provide link help, where a newly admitted student get their SDSU email id?
Can you start the application, save your progress, and continue later?
Leland & Tracy Rolling
If a student applied last year, will some of the information and answers to questions be retained in the system?
@Mel. All essays have a word limit of 200 words each
If your graduate program does not release admission decisions until May, how are your chances for scholarships affected?
All student who are enrolled at SDSU can apply.
If a student applied last year, the system doesn't retain last year's info. You need to re-apply for all scholarships.
The essay questions require a maximum of 200 words per question.
The scholarship will give you specifics on who the recommenders should be. If it doesn't specifically indicate, you can select a professor, a coach, clergy member, etc.
Is there a specific email address that the acceptance letter will come from? (So that we can save the address as a contact to not miss any emails)
The speaker just said you will receive an email if you do NOT receive a scholarship. Did this change? I did not receive an email for 2020-2021
Just trying to be prepared and know how to check the status
We did send out regret emails to all students who did not receive a scholarship last year.
As long as a scholarship does not need to go directly to tuition and fees, a scholarship can go toward housing and other college expenses.
@Julia students must reapply to scholarships they were awarded last year.
@Eric You must have accepted your “intent to enroll” and have an SDSU email to apply for scholarships.
You only need to ask for a recommendation if a scholarship you are applying for requires it.
@Alaa Yes, as long as you were given your SDSU email.
@Kimberly Yes, there are scholarship opportunities available for graduate students.
Are there Aztec scholarships for out-of-state students?
It asks for a resume, but this is optional.
Is there an "average amount" that is awarded for the general scholarship?
How do I apply for the aztec proud scholarship? I am a part of it but cannot find the application for it
If I already submitted, it it too late to change my answer to yes for study abroad?
Can you receive more than one scholarship?
What if you don’t qualify for FAFSA because of your parents but you get no money towards tuition from them will we still be able to qualify for scholarships.
There isn't an average scholarship amount. You can receive any amount depending on the scholarship.
@mandana Who you ask is dependent on the scholarship itself.
I have to go, but this was really useful information thank you!
Is there a specific email address that the Aztec scholarship acceptance letter will come from? (So that we can save the email address as a contact to avoid missing the email/thank you letter request)
In the scholarship website there are a LOT of scholarships. Does the general scholarship apply you for all those except the ones that need the additional essays, letters of recs, etc.
I hope that made sense
@Sachiko Yes, you can still apply and qualify for scholarships
"grants" and "scholarships" are not the same.
How many scholarships does the general scholarship application apply you for?
The SDSU ID is your email address. Your RedID is your 9 digit number assigned when you applied to SDSU
@Stephen Yes, once you submit your application, you will be matched to scholarships behind the scenes. The “recommended” section provides more opportunities if you qualify and submit additional information.
Sorry I missed that. Did she say that if you submitted your FAFSA, you should have a response in your Aidlink?
If I want to apply for a specific scholarship and I am not auto matched with it can I still apply?
@Kathleen credentials refer to your SDSU email
@Denisse the application does not require income
Can International Students apply for California Dream Application?
Sorry, what was the fao... email address that the scholarship notification comes from?
I qualified for FAFSA in the 2019-20 year but not the 2020-21 year is it worth still filling out ?
How soon upon submitting your intent to enroll, do you receive your SDSU email and ID?
@Litzy Longoria. For direct deposit, please set it up as soon as possible. You can set it up now if you login to your Student Account Services account
Are there a significant amount of scholarships for graduate students? My program won’t be sending admission decisions until May so I wouldn’t be able to apply until long after the priority deadline
@ Yogesh Mal - International students are not eligible for California Dream Application
Would it be advantageous to include your resume?
if new fall21 graduate international student applies and get a scholarship, will it be reflected on their i20?
@Mel It is recommended
Thank you Eduardo!
