You may have answered this, but do Parent Plus Loans start accruing interest after 6 months of graduation, or us that just for student (sub/unsub) loans?
Chris Darcey

does the unsubsidized loan have the 6 month grace period after graduation as well
Lorri Allphin
01:28:12
My student is on her own for out of state tuition and is receiving no help thru FAFSA. She is receiving no help, because of the "family expected contribution", which we are (unfortunately) unable to help. How can she qualify for FAFSA help on her own, or other financial aid on her own?

01:34:44
as incoming freshman that may be placed in single room - we have not been told yet - this will place our total costs above the total eligible loans for parent and student combined. does this mean we pay out of pocket or is there a way to increase total loan eligibility due to increase university costs
Jacob Day
01:35:04
What are the criteria that a student will be considered financially independent of their parents? Are graduate students treated for this purpose the same as underegrad?
semmens
01:35:11
But I don’t see any of these questions on the chat either.
Griselda Ruiz
01:35:17
So Graduate unsub loan starts accruing interest while in school?

Liane Pangan
01:37:38

UC San Marcos has live people manning the Financial Aid office and answering questions for parents as well as students-why doesn’t SDSU have people on phones? We need live conversations to clarify many, many specific circumstances :(( You cannot answer parent questions in a single email-I have tried and I am not getting adequate responses.
nasreenatassi
01:39:20
Can anyone see this?

01:39:25
Hello?
Susan Nolan
01:39:27
They require so many forms to get our financial aide, I'm about to give up. It was not like this for CSUDH or other Cal States dealt with in the past. Also, why is there a different portal for financial aide, it is usually on the portal where you log in for your courses, schedule, etc. And there is another Housing portal. So confusing!!
Asante Jackson
01:40:06
and a parking portal
Susan Nolan
01:40:48
I don't get it, it should all be the student's edu site
Susan Nolan
01:41:13
I remember logging in another site to submit the vaccinations
Noure Sydney
01:41:30
How can you sign up for 1 on 1 sessions with financial aid advisors?
Lorri Allphin
01:41:41
Ditto
Asante Jackson
01:41:44
this whole process is just extremely confusing, especially for incoming freshman! and the lack of communication just throws everything off as well
Ayleen Gomez
01:41:58
Did anyone get their parking permit refunded for last semester?
Susan Nolan
01:42:06
Why a separate portal for each item that needs to be submitted. Makes it very difficult
Kimberly McHale
01:42:53
I think you can log onto the Financial Aid & Scholarships page and speak with someone virtually one on one.
Patrick Fogarty
01:42:53
THis is a lot of information. Is it possible to have an assigned financial counselor to work with my specific situation?
Danny Salazar
01:42:57
Are Cal Grant A and B both automatically available to the students?
Jesse Gomez
01:43:40
I think financial aid has an email that you send questions to.
Mark Edmonds
01:44:00
Maybe this has been said, but when will we hear whether a scholarship has been awarded?
Johnathon Michel
01:44:35
who knows tbh
nasreenatassi
01:44:44
I asked for your email to your office before and I was told that is not the best way to reach you
nasreenatassi
01:44:56
I asked for email from admin at college of educaiton
nasreenatassi
01:45:08
I asked for email at the special education department as well
nasreenatassi
01:45:53
Everyone told me that emailing financial aid is not the best way to ask questions about deadlines for the financial aid application
Johnathon Michel
01:46:06
so what would be the best way then?\
aaron
01:46:12
What are the loan terms? Is it a fixed number of months?
Asante Jackson
01:46:43
i wish you could call the financial aid office! emailing is a really bad way of communication for urgent matters!
Johnathon Michel
01:47:02
Yeah it's kind of out-dated

01:53:17
What is food/housing cost for a student living with parents? "Student living with parents" means they are living off campus....correct?
Danny Salazar
01:53:28
@Kathy Battle: Good question!
nasreenatassi
01:53:46
Thank you
Lisa Hemstreet
01:54:46
DONALD - "living off campus" means living in paid housing that is not on-campus such as an apartment. Living with parents typically means no rent.
